New York MTA receives final federal approvals for congestion pricing
Statement from Andy Darrell, Senior Advisor, Environmental Defense Fund
(NEW YORK, NEW YORK) The Federal Highway Administration today provided Gov. Hochul’s revised congestion pricing plan with their final seal of approval, clearing the way for the program to go live on January 5th. Their decision affirms that congestion pricing will maintain the benefits outlined in the comprehensive environmental assessment of the program.
“The way forward is now clear towards reducing costly gridlock and providing a generational investment in the systems that keeps our city on the move. This is a huge win for the nearly 6 million people who depend on transit every day, whether within the city or commuting in and out, for an affordable and fast ride to work.”
