Description
Since joining EDF originally as a Clean Energy Legal Fellow, Sonya has played a role in proceedings before state utility commissions, helping shape policies related to grid modernization, utility planning, affordability, distributed energy resources and decarbonization. Her work combines technical energy regulation expertise with a strong commitment to environmental justice and community engagement.
Background
Prior to EDF, Sonya worked in environmental law, policy and advocacy roles with the Oregon Organic Coalition, Black Food Sovereignty Coalition, Crag Law Center and the Sierra Club, among others, where she focused on environmental justice, land use, energy policy and equitable decision-making.
