Description

Kate serves as New York State Director for Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), where she leads EDF’s government relations, policy, advocacy, and campaigns team in New York. Drawing from her extensive experience in strategic planning and policy development, Kate builds winning campaigns and partnerships to advance durable, evidence-based policy solutions to New York’s climate challenges and community needs.

Background

Kate has been with the EDF team since 2021, first serving as Director of EDF’s Climate Resilience team in New York and New Jersey and transitioning to lead EDF’s New York State Affairs team  in 2026, where she helms EDF’s government relations and advocacy activities in the City and in Albany. Previously, Kate was Director of Resilience for Waterfront Alliance. In this role, she spearheaded Rise to Resilience, a multi-year campaign and coalition for resilience in the NY-NJ region, as well as the development of WEDG (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines), a national rating system and education program for excellence in waterfront design.

Kate also served in several other roles focused on synthesizing research and stakeholder expertise to influence policy and management in the fields of ecosystem restoration, planning and climate change.
