Description

As a Senior Attorney at Environmental Defense Fund, Kahlida advances clean, affordable and equitable energy solutions across Louisiana. She represents EDF before the Louisiana Public Service Commission, New Orleans City Council and in regional transmission planning processes, advocating for policies that improve energy affordability, strengthen grid reliability and support a cleaner, more resilient electric system. Drawing on experience in law, local government and community engagement, Kahlida works to ensure energy decisions reflect the needs of all Louisianans, particularly historically underserved communities.

Background

Before joining EDF, Kahlida worked for the City of New Orleans, where she helped implement mayoral priorities and citywide initiatives designed to advance equity and improve residents’ quality of life. Her work focused on developing and implementing programs that expanded access to city services and created more inclusive outcomes for communities. She also worked as a community organizer for Together New Orleans, bringing together a coalition of more than 55 civic and faith-based organizations to address local policy issues. Kahlida is a member of the Louisiana, District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands and North Carolina bars.
