Iqra Ahmed leads EDF’s external environmental justice coordination efforts with mainstream environmental organizations, co-chairs the Environmental Justice Council and supports efforts to integrate justice and equity across EDF’s Mission teams through efforts like the environmental justice strategic plan and ongoing analyses and support of EJ-related projects.
Background
Ahmed was previously the program coordinator for EDF’s Working Lands team, implementing various biodiversity conservation efforts — such as monarch butterfly habitat restoration on farms, ranches and forests — and policy advocacy efforts.
She has a master’s in environmental management, ecosystem science and conservation with a certificate in community-based environmental management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, and a Bachelor of Science in environmental science, with minors in business administration and wildlife ecology and conservation from the University of Florida.
