New Jersey Regulators’ Approval of Advanced Leak Detection is a Win for the Environment, Safety and Customers

approved a settlement agreement authorizing Elizabethtown Gas Company to use cutting-edge leak detection and quantification technologies to maximize environmental and ratepayer benefits of its five-year infrastructure investment program. Environmental Defense Fund intervened in the case, demonstrating the benefits these technologies can provide. Reducing methane leaks from gas distribution systems is critical to meeting New Jersey’s goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.
