New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announces new path forward for congestion pricing
Statement from Fred Krupp, President, Environmental Defense Fund
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul today announced she is moving forward with a plan to turn on the nation’s first congestion pricing program. The program will reduce health-harming pollution from vehicle congestion, speed up commutes across the city and fund essential upgrades and repairs for the region’s transit system.
“It has never been more important for state leaders to take decisive action to fight climate change, safeguard our health, and invest in cleaner transportation alternatives. Implementing congestion pricing is the kind of practical, bold action our leaders must take for the long-term health and sustainability of our city and region. Gov. Hochul must see this plan through and get New York moving as soon as possible.”
