NC Environmental Defense Launches Air Quality Initiative
North Carolina Environmental Defense today announced that Michael Shore has been named southeast air quality manager. Shore will serve as policy analyst for air quality issues in North Carolina and the southeast United States.
Shore most recently served as the senior policy analyst for the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. In that position, Shore spearheaded major policy development and advocacy on behalf of the department and Governor’s office.
“We are extremely pleased to have Michael join Environmental Defense. He will provide the expertise and leadership to guide our efforts to improve air quality in North Carolina and the southeast region,” said Jane Preyer, director of the North Carolina office. “His background in public policy and passion for the environment are tremendous assets in our work for stronger clean air policies.”
“Air pollution threatens our environment, public health and economy in North Carolina and throughout the southeast,” said Shore. “We can no longer take clean air for granted. We must work diligently to reduce pollution and adopt stronger measures to protect this resource.”
Shore received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in environmental policy from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He served in the Peace Corps in Africa and has consulted on environmental issues in Tunisia and the Czech Republic.
Shore will be based in the Raleigh offices of Environmental Defense and can be reached at (919) 881-2601 or at mshore@environmentaldefense.org.
